Published Measurements
What the Laboratory Recorded
Three findings from the Ayucelra®-HE research, with the model system stated for each.
Measured in a test tube
Antioxidant Activity
Methylene blue reduction assay, against two commercially available hydrogen waters.
Ayucelra-HE recorded a relative activity of 113, against 3 for one hydrogen water and no measurable activity for the other. That is more than 30 times the reducing power of the commercial samples tested.
Measured in human cells
Procollagen Gene Expression
Human facial dermal fibroblasts cultured with Amla fruit extract for 3 days; procollagen mRNA measured by Northern blot.
UV exposure cut procollagen expression to a third of its baseline. Adding Amla fruit extract raised it to 5–6 fold in the same UV-exposed cells.
Fold change relative to UV-exposed cells with no extract.
Measured in the bottle
Polyphenol Content
1,500–2,000 mg
Polyphenol per bottle of Ayucelra-HE, measured as catechin equivalent.
~200 mg
Polyphenol in a single glass of red wine, for comparison.
5–8 %
The share of ingested polyphenols absorbed through the gastric tract.

From Research to Ritual
How a Formulation Is Developed
Six stages from traditional botanical record to a finished product.

01
Study Traditional Use
Study botanicals from 5,000 years of Ayurvedic knowledge, with over 10,000 plant species documented by Ayurvedic physicians.

02
Select Candidate Herbs
Screen from ~300 Ayurvedic herbs through cell-based assays to identify the most suitable combinations for each formulation.

03
Analyse Quality (HPLC)
Every herb batch is tested by high-performance liquid chromatography. Approximately 70–80% of batches fail quality criteria and are rejected.

04
Evaluate in Research Models
Test using human cell cultures, nematode (C. elegans) models, and human monitoring studies. Findings published in peer-reviewed journals.

05
Refine & Patent
Optimal herb combinations are refined and protected by Japanese patents (Patent Nos. 5935103, 6977233, 7193108, 7452831).

06
Made in Japan
Formulations are processed and finished at facilities in Japan; every product is labelled Made in Japan.

Research Background
The Unbalanced Growth Model of Cellular Senescence
Prof. Dai Ayusawa's landmark model (2005, Yokohama City University) demonstrates that under oxidative stress from UV, pollution and age, cells do not simply die. They grow excessively large and structurally unbalanced, entering irreversible growth arrest known as senescence. This model forms the scientific foundation of every Ayucelra® formulation.
Toggle below to visualise the difference between a balanced cell and a senescent cell.
The Ayucelra® Research Hypothesis
Research in Prof. Ayusawa's laboratory observed that specific Ayurvedic botanical combinations, later formulated as Ayucelra®, showed the ability to stimulate mitochondrial reactivation and support cellular proliferation in pre-senescent cell models. The hypothesis: certain polyphenol-rich herb synergies may help cells maintain balanced growth before irreversible arrest occurs.
This diagram is a simplified educational representation of laboratory research models. It does not represent a consumer claim or therapeutic effect.

01
Background Science
Cellular Ageing Research
The Longevity Science Laboratory at Yokohama City University has pursued cellular ageing and rejuvenation research for over 30 years. In 2005, the team published the 'Unbalanced Growth Model' of cellular senescence (Sumikawa et al., Biochem Biophys Res Commun), and in 2016 published its validation (Takauji et al., Scientific Reports). This work forms the scientific foundation behind AYURMASTER's formulation philosophy.
Research Insight
AYURMASTER's approach is shaped by research into how cells change over time and how Ayurvedic botanical formulations can be evaluated through modern cell science.

Research Evidence · Internal Study Data
- —Antioxidant activity: reduced reactive-oxygen-species-induced DNA damage in human cell models.
- —Cellular reactivation: restored mitochondrial activity in pre-senescent human cells.
- —Human monitoring study (n=15, average age 48.7): self-assessed menopausal-comfort scores improved across all measured symptoms after one month; overall subject satisfaction 4.17 / 5.
MUYU-JU's evidence is internal research data generated by the Longevity Science Laboratory (Yokohama City University) and Ichiban Life Corporation, rather than indexed PubMed publications.
